Alex Gopher was born as Alexis Latrobe at the end of the 1960s in France.
He entered the music industry through a pop band called "Orange", with members including Étienne de Crécy and both of AIR members Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel. When the band split up in 1995, the four would remain as good friends and they often work together in future projects. After the breakup, Alex Gopher decided to follow a career as DJ, releasing his own album called "You, My Baby, And I", combining funk, house and electronica, under Solid, his own label.
In 2001 he was asked by Yves St. Laurent to make three tracks for the designer's catwalk show, and instead of only 3 Alex came up with 10 brilliant tracks. With the help of Demon, a fellow French underground artist, he changed these tracks into something more "clubbing", resulting in "Wuz" the album which became an international hit.
In 2004, after the release of "I Need Change" EP for BTK Records, Alex worked together with Étienne de Crécy for Kraftwerk's Aerodynamik remix.
In 2006 he released his namesake album, "Alex Gopher", getting back to the pop rock genre he used to play in the Orange period, while touring around the world doing DJ Set.
