Booka Shade came to Jakarta on 7 December 2007, on the same night where Armin van Buuren was scheduled to play at K7. But, nothing to worry, Future10's rep and public are also very large, so when we arrived at ten to midnight Embassy was already very very full. We quickly contacted Embassy's brand director Mr. Yudha B, to arrange a little interview. Apparently we were the only media present there for the chitchat with Booka Shade, so we didn't have to wait to get in.
Along with us came Olivier, a young DJ from French International School Jakarta. Olivier had pretty interesting questions about producing music he asked Booka Shade and their life touring the world. You can read the entire interview here.
Having done with Booka Shade, we left them to prepare their live act. Then we went wandering around Embassy which was incredibly full - even the 2nd floor was jampacked - and took some nice pictures.
Preceding Booka Shade, Hogi Wirjono from Future10 did a DJ set - we thought he was going to do a live act too, with his new electro-band Agrikulture, but it turned out that he was saving the best for last, for the peak show, the last event of 4 Future10's 12th Anniversary Event Series the following week.
At around 1 AM Booka Shade finally hit the stage, and tell you, they were awesome! They were voted the world's best Live PA and that's not for nothing! Arno playing the synth and Walter on the electric drums, and how they coordinated, how they reacted to the public, it was huge. They played practically all their hit songs, from In White Rooms to Mandarine Girl, Darko and Night Falls.
All in all, this is the best live act we've ever seen so far in Indonesia. Congrats to Future10 and Embassy!
