Special thanks to X2 Club, Marlboro, Beat Club Promote and DJ Meme himself!

Hello Memê, how are you tonight? Glad to meet you tonight in X2 after we missed your gig last year in Stadium!

Hello too indonesiaclubbing!

Already the second time you come to Indonesia?

Actually the third! Always with Alung (Beat Club Promoter, red) - I come at least once a year.

You like Indonesia?

Very much!!

See, I am one person who love to eat - I really like to try different kinds of foods, drinks, and I always bring home spices from my travels around the world, recipes from all corners of the globe, so Indonesia with all its variety of dishes and spices is perfect for me.

And I also like the clubs!

But you've only been playing in the best ones! Stadium, X2...

Yes, I like both. Stadium is mysterious and mystique and people are just wild, and X2 is such a gem - luxurious, spacious...Beautiful!

How did you start DJing?

I started when I was 11 years old, wow that was a really long time ago!

I've always loved music and I started out as a DJ in my own room, later in my friends' parties, and then I began to DJ more seriously and opted it as my primary job. I think you have to have passion when you do something and I'm always passionate about music - that's why I started in the first place and that's how I still survive doing it until today!

How is the clubbing scene in Brazil? We heard that it's really good...What with the Warung Club being nominated as one of the best venues in the world!

Actually, I've never been to Warung yet. It's in the southernmost part of Brazil in Praia Brava, and I come from Rio which is up in the north. Well let me tell you that Brazil is a country very rich in musical culture, and Brazil is so big!!! It's bigger than West Europe altogether so the clubbing scene is different everywhere.

What good is, you have the place for everyone's taste!

But we can't define Warung as the best venue in Brazil, why? Because honestly it's because Deep Dish, Pete Tong, Dubfire, Hernan Cattaneo, 16 Bit Lolitas, Steve Lawler and many more big international names came to play in there and they spread the words that Warung is great because they like it - but there's just so much more to discover in Brazil! Even I make discoveries for each and every time I play in different parts of my own country.

Based on what we know about Brazilians, they always have a nickname. For instance all the football players, they have such long names and they shorten it to a nickname. Is Memê also a nickname?

My real name is Marcello Mansur, and that's M&M. People used to call me DJ MM, because yes the name is bit too long don't you think?

Memê to shorten it easily.

It has no particular meaning, just a nickname, from my initials.

But to be honest, I hate soccer - never really took an interest on it so don't ask me about it!! (laughs)

Oh, you're definitely the first Brazilian ever we meet that hates soccer!!

Yeah everyone told me so...

Well I don't hate it, I just don't understand the euphoria and mania people go about it and I prefer music since my early years, that's it.

And they don't use the big Brazilian football stadiums as a rave party place? I mean like the Maracana, it's huge! You could make a great rave party in there - like they do with the Los Angeles Sports Arena for instance...

Ahaha, don't ask me about that. No we never use any footbal stadiums as a rave area in Brazil. I think it's just too big - Maracana can take up to 200,000 persons! How can you gather such crowd? Unless it's Madonna coming.

About your songs - you always have this "love-y" expression on your songs...Any Love is one of it. Inspired by people you love?

No, actually Any Love is a really old song made about 20 years ago by Chaka Khan and I just love the song so I remix it - it's a cover.

I'm not really a producer-type of person. It's just not my cup of tea. I prefer remixing / covering an old song I like and give it something special - a modern breath with a touch of house music.

In your long timespan of career, is there any gig, place and date you remember most?

Too hard to pick out one...

I really liked my gig at Stadium but I believe that tonight I will love X2 too...

I love each and every gig I do. Well sometimes maybe people book me for the wrong place - I just can't get a real chemistry with the venue or the crowd, but it's still an experience that enrichens my journey as a DJ so I always give the best I can.

I hope tonight will be great! X2 is such a nice club!

Yeah we believe you will have fun tonight! Thanks so much and see you on stage!

Thanks and see you soon!
