Hello indonesiaclubbing! Exactly, I was here two years ago in 2007 at Vertigo club.
No, actually not, am only here for the weekend, for these Reverberation gigs, actually, and my new album's gonna be out by the end of 2009!
How very busy life you lead! So after this you're gonna go back home to Switzerland?Yes, home to my wife Mirella too!
Let's say I've adapted so well with Switzerland, the quiet life, and all, so I'm feeling that I've become an European now, but there's still a little American person inside of me, and I still miss New York a lot.
Exactly! Those things are what I miss the most from New York.
The humdrums of a big city life, thousands of restaurants of any kind of cuisine, and the shops, the sales - you don't have that in Switzerland.
I live in St. Gallen, the German part, which is great for its quiet lifestyle, but whenever I have a gig or two in New York it's always like a free holiday for me. A little holiday at home with my friends and family and all those New-Yorker stuff I miss so much!
What about your Swiss fanbase? Do you have a solid fans community in there? To be honest, I don't play that often in Switzerland.
They're not so "trance" - the scene is big for hip hop R & B and believe it or not, also for minimalism. That's kind of shame because a decade backwards you used to have this great trance scene in Germany, Switzerland, Austria...You know. People used to say trance was the symbol, the scene of German-speaking countries.
But some DJs released some bad trance tracks a few years ago and somehow people just got sick of it.
So I mostly play outside Switzerland around the world, as far as Latin America, and yeah I would say my fanbase is international.
Oh yeah she's all that and even more. I made a song dedicated to her, with her name, Mirella, and I still make songs inspired by her until now.
She's always been very, very supportive, already I'm away every weekend for gigs and she has to work so she can't come, but she understands very much that I have to do it for my career. She never complains or anything. So, during the week, when I'm in Switzerland, I try to spend as much time as possible with her. Quality time.
Are we going to have more songs inspired by Mirella?Well, I'm gonna be a dad in September...
Thanks! So yeah there would be more songs dedicated to her and my future child.
Not yet, but we will soon!
But I've already dedicated a song for the baby. It's called 7 Weeks and it was made the day my wife's pregnancy was 7 weeks gone.
Well yeah I think those DJs who said they don't care, it's most probably because they never make it to get in!! (giggles) But to be honest it's not that important, either. I came 54th and does that mean that I'm way better than the rest? It's the public, the worldwide audience who judges.
However, I think being in DJmag is really good for bookings. Being in DJmag means a great marketing for yourself. (Because I don't even have a marketing team to be honest! I'm going to set up one very soon!)
Within all your experiences, do you have one gig you will always remember?Well, this Argentina gig a couple of weeks ago.
I was doing a gig along with Cirque du Soleil, and I entered the DJ booth with the most spectacular way!
They put me inside a big inflatable ball, and dropped me from the 3rd floor to the DJ booth below, and I had to learn how to get out of the ball and all, and that was really really great.
Plus, the crowd was so crazy! I think it's all in the blood and in the culture. Everywhere you go, the crowd is different - the crowd reflects the nation's personality.
For instance, Swiss people are laid-back and more relaxed, and of course they get crazy but not as crazy as South Americans!! Australians in Sydney get really really wild too at parties.
Well I'm not a person who only swears by vinyls or computers or CDJ, and frankly I have no problem with people using digital means - the most important thing is that they know how to mix well and get people to move their bodies!!
Thanks so much for coming, 2 years is a long time and it's way overdue, I will do my best tonight for everyone and I hope that you will enjoy the party!
My pleasure!
